Yes, I am home-schooled. If you are, or were, home-schooled too - you will find
this list both hysterically funny and caustically accurate. If you are not, or never were, home-schooled - read it anyway. Think of it as a "learning experience", which we home-schoolers are quite fond of.
While I'm at it, let me add that the underlying tone of this list also applies beautifully to us vegans.

"I have never let my schooling interfere with my education." - Mark Twain
You know those "word of the day" calenders?
I've got a good "word" for everyday of my life.
Autodidact [aw-toh-dahy-dakt]
-noun
A person who has learned a subject without the benefit of a teacher or formal education; a self-taught person.
It may be hard to pronounce, but it's meaning is clear. It totally harmonizes with the home/un-schooling thing. Pursue the topics that really interest you. Not just those sanctified by the public school system. Don't take the conventional concepts at face value. Figure them out for yourself. Take advantage of libraries, the internet, and your own perceptions. Take something apart too see how it works.
Watch this movie based on the teachings of autodidact Alan Watts.

"God(s) grant me energy to accomplish the tasks I can, foresight to recognize the ones I don't have time for right now, and wisdom to know the difference."
The term "summer vacation" makes me laugh. Summer should be called "An excuse to do all the things you knew you were too busy for last year, all at once." I'm going to need a vacation after this vacation.
And another thing, I often feel like I'm learning more during the summer than during the school year! Is it because there's no pressure? Is compulsory education really so distasteful? Maybe the un-schooling thing dose have its hidden depths - if you're allowed to research and explore and create whatever the heck you want, it's easy to devote your full attention to every project that sparks your interest.
Well then, that is what got me into this mess.
